The MMA Foundation was incorporated in the State of South Carolina April 1, 2003 through the leadership of the Military Magnet Advisory Board and Principal Anderson Townsend. General Henry Doctor, Judge Robert King and Dr. Barbara Dilligard led this effort and the foundation became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with IRS tax exempt approval. The initial team of leaders were business partners from Meade Westvaco and the North Charleston Rotary, under the leadership of the late Gil Gillespie from Meade Westvaco.

Military Magnet Academy Foundation, Inc.

Mr. John Snowden had a keen interest in the MMA and recruited his colleagues and members of the North Charleston Lunchtime Rotary to join in this effort.  They provide financial assistance and tutoring for the cadets. The Military Magnet Academy Advisory Committee was a local off- shoot of the original generals and senior officers planning team. This group was led by Judge Bob King who linked with the business partners to garner more community support. The MMA Foundation has supported the MMA cadets for the past 16 years.
